Domiciano L. Maingi

I am Mr Domiciano Maingi, the National Chairman and Founder of Aquacultural Association of Kenya (AAK).
I holder a Master of Science (Msc) degree in International Studies, Institute of Diplomacy and international Studies (IDIS) University of Nairobi, Bachelor of Psychology, University of Nairobi, Executive Management Training, University of Nevada, USA, CPA, member Kenya Institute of management (KIM). I am currently undertaking my PhD Clinical Psychology at Daystar University.
I have been a fish farmers for the past 13 years. During the implementation of the Aquaculture Economic Stimulus Program (ESP) spearheaded by the State Department of Fisheries (SDF) my farm was used as a demonstration farm.
I have formed 187 permanent cluster groups of small-holder fish farmers in 25 counties out of the 41 counties that practise Aquaculture in Kenya. I have also been involved in fish feed formulation and production at cottage industry level. Being a trainer of trainers I have trained several cluster groups of small holder fish farmers on feed production among other things. In addition I am involved the implementation of numerous collaborative research projects with development partners such as SDF, National Aquaculture Research Development and Training Centre (NADTC), International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI), Kenya Marine and Fisheries Research Institute (KMFRI and leading Research University Institutions in Kenya. Other collaborative partners including SDF- Directorate of Aquaculture Development, Kenya Agricultural Productivity and Agribusiness Programmes (KAPAP) and Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO). I am the Principal Investigator (PI) of the Sustainable New Ingredients to Promote Health (SNIPH), an International research on how to improve Omega 3 levels for farmed fish in both fresh water in Lake Victoria and Marine water in Indian Ocean; a project implemented in India, Tanzania and Kenya together with University of Stirling UK.
I have attended different workshops to represent farmers organized by different development partners like AU-IBAR, WorldFish, LVFO, FAO, KEPSA and many more.
I have also attended training as a Trainer of Trainer (TOT) in Abbassa WorldFish Training Centre in Egypt sponsored by WorldFish.
