Stanley Mworia

Mr. Stanley Muriungi Mworia is the Executive Officer, Aquacultural Association of Kenya (AAK). He holds a Bachelor of commerce [accounting option] from KCA University and is also a certified public accountant of Kenya (CPA-K). He is also a holder of degree in business administration and management science from St.Paul’s University and Master of Arts in Project Planning and Management from University of Nairobi.
He has wide experience in dealing with farmers across the country having worked with Kenya National Farmers Federation (KENAFF), an umbrella body of all farmers in Kenya from 2009 – 2012. During this period, he implemented projects under the following developmental partners: Association for Strengthening Agricultural Research in Eastern and central Africa (ASSARECA), International Fund for Agriculture Development (IFAD), AGRITERRA, European Union (EU), USAID, Swedish Cooperative Center (SCC), Farmers Voice Radio (FVR), Kenya Agricultural productivity Programme (KAPAP) and many more where most of the focus was farmer trainings.
He has been involved in the development of Training manuals for farmers through Kenya National Domestic Biogas producers Programme (KENDBIP), where I was also incorporated as a trainer [2010-2011], Fish farmer’s training manual under United Nations Industrial Development Orgarnization (UNIDO) through Standard Market Access Program (SMAP) funded by European Union (EU).
At AAK, he has gained immense experience in Fresh Water Aquaculture with special focus on sustainable small scale and large-scale fish farming and social- economic development of rural communities in fish farming in Kenya. I have implemented various projects including Standards and Market Access Programme (SMAP) UNIDO Aquaculture Component (2015-2017) funded by EU, the Implementation of a Regional Fisheries Strategy for ESA-IO IOC-SmartFish programmes (2014-2017); Technical Assistance targeted support project in Kenya to develop a Stakeholder-Led and “Good Practice” Based Value Chain Compliance System for Exports to the EU for aquaculture sector under ACP-EU TradeCom II Programme (2017) and an International research for Sustainable New Ingredients to Promote Health (SNIPH) for farmed fish in both fresh water in Lake Victoria and Marine water in Indian Ocean; a project implemented in India, Tanzania and Kenya together with University of Stirling UK and funded by Newton Fund.
He has also represented fish farmers in Local, Regional and international conferences and workshops.
He has been involved in offering trainings to fish farmers on Good Aquaculture Practices. He has done this through SMAP project implemented by United Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), SmartFish through Indian Ocean Commission, KAPAP through State Department of Fisheries and many other projects. He has also undergone a training on presentation skills conducted by IMPACT from VIENNA by UNIDO, Training on Best Management Practices by WorldFish in Abbassa, Egypt, Training on fish Nutrition in University of Delhi, India and attended a Leadership course in Nairobi Kenya.
